Got a Question About Carpet Cleaning? We May Have the Answer Below. This page will be updated frequently. If you have a question not listed below please email us.
What are your carpet cleaning rates? We charge per room and the rate per room changes depending on how many areas are being cleaned. The more areas there are to clean, the less it is per area.
The last time I had my carpets cleaned, the price I paid was almost double what I was quoted. Why would that happen? Pricing will vary depending on the company providing the work, however you may have been the victim of a bait and switch cleaner. Bait and switch tactics are used by some cleaners to lure you in with a low price only to have it double or even triple when they show up, or worse, at the end of the job. It's very important to get the exact price from your cleaner before any work is performed.
What is a square footage maximum? Cleaners that price by room or area have square footage maximums. This number is what determines the maximum size of a priced room or area. I've seen these maximums vary from 120 square feet up to 300 square feet. If you have an area that exceeds the maximum most companies will count that area as two rooms. Carolina Carpet Solutions pricing is different however. Our maximum is 250 square feet but if your room falls between 250 and 500 square feet you will only be charged an extra $15 for that area.
The last time my carpets were cleaned the spots came back within a few days. Why is that? This typically happens when a carpet cleaner does not treat the dirty areas with a pre-treatment designed to break down oily deposits or sugars in the carpet. They are usually able to remove the soil at the top of the carpet fiber but the deposits at the bottom of the fiber will wick up during the drying phase and will provide a new layer of residue that will attract dirt.
What causes the black lines around my walls? This is called air filtration soiling and is common along baseboards, doorway thresholds and any appliances or electronics that produce air currents of any kind. It is caused by naturally occuring carbon in the air that is deposited in areas that air flows through carpets. Most people think it is dust but it is not. It can sometimes be lightened or improved with specialized cleaning solutions but is usually an extra service and costly.
